Indie is a modern cultural term that comes from the word “independent”. It’s a genre of films which is produced outside of the traditional systems of production. These can also be called as feature films. Indie films are usually low budget films which feature actors that are usually not A-list superstars and are set in everyday reality. Generally, the marketing of independent movies is characterized by limited release, but can also have major marketing campaigns and a wide release. Independent movies are often screened at local, national and international film festivals before distribution.
