There are a few ways we can implement to lead a life without or with lesser amounts of gadgets. The first and foremost thing to do for that is to understand which aspects of our lives are gadget-dependent and what alternative there is to replace those gadgets. The second thing to do is to not unnecessarily go through your gadgets in your free time as well.
Here are some tips you can adapt to lead a life without gadgets
1. When doing some important work where you don’t need your phone, keep it away from your sight. Cooking, studying, eating and so on are activities that can be done without your having to keep tapping at your phone every other second.
2. Don’t make your gadgets your source of entertainment. As much as the purpose of TV shows and movies are to keep you entertained, and that social media is a great place to spend some lazy time – do not make your gadget the place you seek refuge in times of boredom. Be more active, go outdoor, meet someone, read a book, walk your dog and seek activities that compel you to stay away from your phone.
3. Have a rule about using your gadgets. We understand that all our work-related emails and phone calls ultimately come to our gadgets and so we cannot survive completely without them. The alternative to that could be to set a particular timing to use them. For example, after attending the first set of calls in the morning, you could discipline yourself to not touch your electronic device until later when you will condition yourself that it would be the time when you would check your emails.
4. Uninstall applications from your phone, log out of them from your computer. You will notice you less you’ll be inclined to log in and out every time from the website once the app is gone – you will need some mental strength to be able to go off the grid on social media and gain it for your own betterment.
5. Take up a hobby. Hobbies give you something to be dedicated to and spend more time with. Explore a passion, learn some new skill or just experiment with various things to see what clicks – art, writing, learning a new language, gardening, etc. You will find yourself to be spending a lot more time to explore your hobbies and work harder for it. It would not take up your work hours but would make your free time more worthwhile.
