When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be.

It was a sunny afternoon in Wakad when Abhilasha, Sonalika, Tushaara and Vedang set drinking in the road side tavern. The four friends had been together through highs and lows. Highs and lows of cocaine, not of life really. They weren’t looking good. Eyes looked droopy and red, suggesting that they hadn’t had sleep for at least three nights or were simply too intoxicated to keep their eyes open. Life had been too kind to them, financially, but same could not be said about them. Tushara had the other three hooked to cocaine since she always feared feeling left out. And now the four could be taken off it.
As Vedang placed another 100 grams of white powder on the table, the other three kept talking about their friendship, apparently invincible. The white powder took the four of them through the canopies of Amazon, deserts of Sahara as their throats went dry and their feet felt a chill while their skin felt irritated by all the stings by the insect which is responsible for the yellow fever.
As they take the next hit, Harsh, the bar tender comes running to them, almost panting, and tells them that Death was furiously looking for Vedang across Pune. Aghast by hearing the news, the four friends agitate. They decide that that this is a test of their friendship and they must kill Death before it kills anyone of them. The four friends, still highly intoxicated, go around the city, hunting for death. Vedang panics and goes on asking each and every person he bumps into. The cold winds only take them higher and more insane.
Around 7 pm, the platoon meets an old man on the highway near Wakad. The old man had more skin than his face could contain and there were more wrinkles than the four had ever seen. They hastily inquired about Death and the old man pointed them towards the aging banyan tree on the highway. He claimed to have seen the black cape demon last near the Banyan tree so they rushed to the highway, determined to kill it as it comes.
As they reached the highway, the aging banyan tree sat there, against the gloomy background. It was the perfect time for lightening to strike and light the entire scene. And just as anticipated, lightning did strike. As soon as the sword from hell fell on earth, the four friends, together, noticed something bright and shining, under the banyan tree. They all rushed to the scene and found, to their delight, a humongous diamond. Feverish and delighted at the same time, the friends jump in ecstasy and shout at their highest pitch.
Excited about their new found wealth, Sonalika declares themselves millionaires. The four forget about the impending death hanging over their shoulders and decide to rejoice. Sonalika runs back to the city to get a suitcase as they agree that it would be unsafe to bring such a huge diamond back to the city, in their pockets. Abhilasha wanted to celebrate their new found wealth by drinking the best wine in the world and goes out looking for it.
However, Death was still after them. In a brutal course of events, Sonalika gets under a racing truck while coming back with her suitcase. The other three have no knowledge of it.
While guarding their newfound wealth, Vedang and Tushara think of a filthy plan. The two device a plan to murder their other two friends when they come back, and get richer. As soon as Abhilasha comes back with her wine, Vedang and Tushara attack her with the same diamond they had just discovered. A fatal blow on her head and blood flowed like water in a stream as Abhilasha breathes her last.
Death was striking them, one by one.
Greed did not stop there and they kept waiting for Sonalika to arrive. Hours passed and when she doesn’t show up, the two decide to celebrate. Vedang took out the leftover 50 grams of cocaine from his pocket, and decided to take a hit.
Tushaara too, excited, decides to take the white powder. However, the two, in their unstoppable excitement, take in the entire packet at one blow as their eyes pop out and they choked to death.
The next morning, the locals found three bodies and a blood stained stone, covered in shiny aluminum foil.
