Mira had recently passed her board exam of 10 classes with extinction. Honor and affection were showering from every direction. Teachers and her parents were proud of her. Classmates are connecting themselves with her.
After someday, she took admission in the same school, for her higher secondary study. With the dream to crack IIT she perused her study. But the problem was that the hangover of being special did not had drawn from her mind yet. She was not doing as much hard work as she used to do in her previous classes. Just at the very beginning of the session, a fight occurred between Mira and her best friend Sikha. Mira felt guilty for this and decided to say sorry to Sikha but she was so upset that she didn’t accept her sorry. After then Mira didn’t try dulcify her. She was more interested in making new friends. By luck, at the same time a new girl named Naira, also having some disputes with her friend, came to Mira’s life. The bond of their friendship became very strong in a very short time. Mira used to call her twice in a day, share each and every secret of her life with her (Naira). Among all these things Mira forgot the main purpose, her study. She had totally forgotten her goal, her ambition and the most important of all her financial condition. Days passed, month passed and when her final exams were only three months after she realized her mistake that she didn’t have completed even half of her syllabus. She got anxious, work harder and harder but fails to cover the whole syllabus. When the result came she was stubbed. Actually on the result’s day Mira was giving a competitive exam called ICAR, on her father recommendation. She arrived at home in evening and called up Naira to know the result. Mira said “Hey Naira! Do you see the result? ”. Naira said, hiding her joy, “Yes I see. You have got 68%. Your math marks is 39”. Mira seemed to fell on the ground on hearing this .She never expected that. 39 in math, no this can’t be happen. However she manage herself and her voice and asked her “and what about you?” This time Naira voice was not so joyful. She said “Ah! I have got 57% and 49 in math. I don’t know how they had checked my copy. I have written much more than 57%.” Mira said “Same here. Bye”. After few seconds, gathering all the courage, she decided to tell her parents about her result. They didn’t say anything but she knew that they were disappointed by her. After some time ICAR result also came with the label “NOT QUAL”. She was totally broken. Now Naira maintained a big distance from her, didn’t receive her phone neither reply her messages. This was beyond tolerance to belief that she was deceived by Naira in friendship. All thee failure and loneliness took Mira to a dark well of depression. She had lost her self confidence.
After someday she took admission in a local college for her graduation degree and decides to prepare for banking to help her family economically. She tries to compel her heart to focus in the preparation but it was not going with that decision. One day when she was at home her uncle Rajesh came to her home. After taking tea he asked Mira “What are you doing these days?”. Mira replied “O, I am preparing for bank exam. But I think that I should choose more challenging field in which I can use my whole potential”. Hearing this uncle said, at once,”Then why don’t you try UPSC exam”. Mira’s father came and asked her uncle for a walk and they go from there. Mira started thinking, should I try this. Her heart was saying “yes, yes, yes”. When Mira saw the question paper of the exam she felt that it is only for her and only medium to prove her and get back her life which she deserve and want. She started preparing for the exam without telling anyone. This time she worked very, very hard. She didn’t use her phone for two years. One day her father was talking to her mother about her which made her feel very uneasy. Her father said “We should start finding a perfect groom for our Mira once she completes her graduation”. Mira had never expected these words at least from her father’s mouth. She always thought that he understand her dream but it was not so. She said calmly but strongly, “Papa, I don’t want to get married so soon. I want to be an IAS. Want to give UPSC exam.”
“What UPSC exam? Don’t you know how hard this is?”exclaimed her father. Mira said “Yeah, I know and that’s why I have chosen it. After that day Mira had increased her hard work. Now the only goal of her life was to crack that exam.
The day came; Mira clears the prelims and then went through the main exam and the interview. Few months passed. One day Mira was watching television, she saw that the exam result was coming at 4:00 pm at the official website. The heart of Mira star beating vigorously. What will happen? A numerous feelings rose in her heart. At 4:00 pm, the entire house member gathered at the living room with their phone and laptop. They opened the website; Mira closed her eyes and started chanting the name of goddess. All went to silence. Mira‘s fear was increasing, she wanted to open the eye what she didn’t. After a while all shouted loudly “You did it.” Mira opened her eye, couldn’t believe but truth is truth. The dam of her emotions broke out and started flowing from her eyes. She ran to her worship room and thanked her deity for bringing this day in her life. After few hours all the media persons came to her home to her interview. One person asked her father “Gentleman, what do you want to say at this occasion?” Father said very seriously “Don’t persuade any girl to marry. Let them first live their dream.”
Next day, when Mira was taking her breakfast her phone rang that was an unknown number. Mira said “Hello, Mira speaking.” Caller said “Hey Mira, it’s me Naira. I just read about you in the newspaper. Congrats yaar, what a big achievement you accomplish.” Mira said “yeah all because of you.” “Because of me, how?”. “Just kidding. Forget that” Mira said. Naira said “Let do some party, yaar! When can we meet”. Mira had already decided, not again, Naira. She said “I really grateful to you for your best wishes but the path I have chosen don’t allow me to spend a second of life in pleasure and plunder. I have sacrificed my life for welfare of nation and its people so I don’t want to allow my focus get shifted anywhere else because this time the responsibility is much larger than before. I hope you understand. Bye”
Naira “Hello, Hello” But Naira had already cut the phone.
