We persevere through life breathing on air, while this existence thrives breathing through each one of us,
Inhaling through us when we are in thought,
Exhaling through us when in action.
Continual inhalation or exhalation will undoubtedly smother us to our deaths. Similarly, both, too much of thinking without corresponding actions and reckless actions taken without substantial thought, strangle parts of this existence to eternal damnation.
The essence of life is that quiet moment of stillness, the one that separates inhalation from exhalation. Termination of one breath and the inception of another is what keeps us alive by evading suffocation. This brief yet paramount pause in respiration is symbolic of the patience we can enormously benefit from in life. The patience that can effectively hold together our thoughts and actions preventing them from falling apart, preserving sanity, shunning savagery.
Since breathing is a never-ending routine for us we fail to notice that the length and intensity of our breaths often change but the duration of this moment of stillness remains unstirred. Similarly, the depth of our thoughts and the magnitude of our actions change often too, but do we manage to be equally patient through all that transpires? Most of us certainly do not. This lack of patience is what makes our existence run out of breath, which then overwhelms us beyond our individual threshold of tolerance. Impulsive behaviour looming in the shadows grabs hold of us effectively turning this lack of patience, into the slip that we cannot recover from without falling to distressing depths.
Patience is what essentially refines our thoughts and defines our actions. And the moment of stillness does a lot to explains us about patience. We either have patience or we don’t, if one is patient when facing a certain event but gets impatient when facing another of greater consequence, one has never had patience but only the lack of it. Absolute patience is being patient regardless, it is what subsumes all adversities and saves this existence from becoming a ballad of travesties.
If you want to fill your cup of patience to the brim, be patient regardless. But being patient without thoughts and their reciprocating actions is to stop breathing altogether, entrapped in the stillness of the moment that separates our breaths for eternity, what awaits us here is a slip down the rabbit hole of apathy, from existing to inanimation.
Many of us incorporate Yoga and various breath works in our lives to make it better. Belive that thoughts and actions are tantamount to inhalation and exhalation, and you shall find that by practising 'conscious breathing' in this aspect you end up doing the most for mankind. I'd humbly like to go as far as calling it the "Yoga Of Life".
