Knowing trees, I understand the meaning of patience. Knowing grass, I can appreciate persistence.

Let’s see if it is possible to answer this difficult question.
Which is the relationship between the one and the whole?
Which kind of influence can have a single person in his society or in his nation?
The development of a single and of his society are connected or separated?
These questions are, surely, very common but even very difficult to answer.
A lot of philosophers, sociologists, and psychologists, in all the times, tried to sort out of these questions but it isn’t easy to arrive in a definitively answer.
First of all because there are no pieces of evidence about the influence from one to the other, and, second and not less important thing, because, if it is true that a single person can influence the society, it is true even the opposite: the society, the time when we live, have influence on ourselves.
It will be enough to think of the great story or science figures to understand that, without them, the society couldn’t develop but, even that, in other times, in other societies more or less developed, in other conditions, in conclusion, maybe they couldn’t express themselves in the same, prodigious way.
First of all, however, try to see what we mean when we talk about personal development.
When we talk about personal development, we mean all the activities that improve the talents, the identity of a person and help to get a better quality of the life. This process takes place during all the entire life of a person and it isn’t related only to the school or university; the development process involves all the life’s aspects.

Aspiration.
Even if, as we told, the personal development takes place during all the life of a person, it also true that, usually there is a single event (as a trauma or a dream or something so strong) that starts the process.
But nothing of this can be possible without a framework (economic, political or biological).
When the personal development becomes the development of a group, the pressure on the society increases, certainly, the current situation, the status quo, breaks and all the society, all the nation starts to change.
Almost always, this kind of transformation isn’t peaceful and, sometimes, can be violent too.
This is because of the society, as the most part of the people, often resists to the changes.
This violent reaction can be very dangerous for the same person that started the development. It is enough to think, for example to Galileo Galilei, one of the most important mathematicians and astronomer of all the times that was obliged by the Inquisition to abjure his theories to avoid the condemnation for heresy.
Something similar happened to Giordano Bruno; an Italian philosopher, astronomer, and occultist executed as a heretic by the Church.
We can continue talking about hundreds of these important figures that marked irremediable our society during the times but it is impossible to distinguish exactly the point where the influence of the single person in his society finishes and when the influence of the society on the personal development of the single person starts.
