The first day of IPL 2018’s auction was full of surprises. KXIP’s grabbing of Ravichandran Ashwin to KKR’s letting go of Gautam Gambhir, the teams have come with whole new strategies to build their respective teams. The first day of 2018 IPL auction also witnessed teams fighting for popular international cricketers. While players like Ben Stokes, Glenn Maxwell, Chris Woakes and Chris Lynn earned crores, what was surprising that a host of capped players including the likes of Chris Gayle, Lasith Malinga, Joe Root, Martin Guptill, Hashim Amla among others went unsold.
Former Mumbai Indians pacer Lasith Malinga, one of the most high-profile players in IPL's history was also ignored by the teams on the first day.

Kings XI Punjab got Pandey, while Sunrisers Hyderabad bagged Pandey.
